Destiny upgrade to level 20

In case anyone is wondering, here's the cumulative cost for upgrading to destiny level 20, where you get +1 hero skill:

8.6mil gold

134k HB

74 karmic I  (74 karmic I = 74*300 = 22.2k fame)

16 karmic II  (16 karmic II = 16*700 = 11.2k fame)

either 1 dupe hero card in your warehouse, or 5 oath tablets  (5 oath = 5*300 = 1500 fame)

Total fame = 33.4k or 34.9k depending on whether you have a dupe hero card or not.

Note that you cannot use a dupe hero from your altar, it must be in your warehouse.

Destiny upgrade to level 40

In order to get destiny 40, where you get another +1 hero skill level, it will cost all of the above, plus an additional:

~730k blue crystals

460k HB

54 karmic I  (54 karmic I = 54*300 = 16.2k fame)

22 karmic II  (22 karmic II = 22*700 = 15.4k fame)

8 karmic III  (8 karmic III = 8*1600 = 12.8k fame)

2 dupe hero cards, or 1 dupe hero + 5 oath, or 10 oath  (0 oath = 0 fame, 5 oath = 1500 fame, 10 oath = 3000 fame)

Total fame = 44.4k fame + 1500 fame per missing hero card (need 2 dupe heroes)

HOWEVER, you will also need to have 40.8k destiny in that area of the map, which requires you to upgrade, not just own, EVERY hero in that destiny group. By "upgrade" I'm talking about hero level, hero skill level, inscription, hero talent level, equipment, enchantment, and traits. Most heroes will need to be devo and max level, inscr 100, skill 9+, some with talent level 5+, some traits at 5 or 4, etc. The total cost for doing this in terms of HB, shards, fame, blue crystals, gems (for rolling traits), and books can be really significant. Just be aware of this before going for level 40 destiny. It's very likely you will need to upgrade some heroes that you never use in any of the game modes.

And here's a tip, when viewing a destiny group, there's a blue crystal to the left of the hero list. Under that crystal is a number representing the total destiny for this hero group. If you click on it, you can see each hero's contribution to the total, and a breakdown for each hero. This can help you see what to improve, should you attempt to get any of those heroes to destiny level 40.
