You can't beat the commute but it's overpriced for where you are
Those of you who are staying/have stayed at Jefferson Hills, how is/was your experience? I'm considering living there during my Co-op at Bose and love love to hear from other interns. Thanks!

I was an intern last summer at Bose, and now I am a full-time employee, having finished my third week both as an employee and a resident in Jefferson Hills. So far, I really like it! It has great amenities, my apartment is comfortable, and it has an unbeatable commute to Bose. You do have to keep in mind a few things if you decide to go with it:
1.) The apartment complexes have a reputation for housing short-term residents, though there are current residents who have lived there for at least a year or two. However, prices on apartments fluctuate depending on what point during the week you reserve a price on an apartment, the instantaneous level of demand for apartments, and how long you choose to stay in an apartment.
2.) If you decide to go there to check it out, they will show you two or three model apartments. Make sure that if you reserve a vacant apartment that you have them show it to you in advance before you sign the lease, as well as all the facilities (like laundry, which is kind of pricey).
3.) Because you'll be co-oping, (most likely 6-7 months), I would recommend finding a fellow co-op roommate to live with. That drives the price down considerably. And make sure this person can cosign your lease too.
4.) For spending time in Boston, you will be living a bit ways away from the subway; however, Jefferson Hills has a direct shuttle to the Framingham commuter rail station, so you won't have to pay for parking.
5.) Jefferson Hills has a poor rating on Yelp; however, I have found that most of these ratings are for reasons that could have been taken care of in the very beginning, and the others are what I like to call #firstworldproblems. You'll be given two weeks once you settle to note any alarming damages to the apartment that are not your fault; this will exempt you from any financial liability on these damages, and they will put in work orders for these things to be fixed. Other than that, just use common sense and respect your place and the public facilities, and you'll be good to go.
6.) For a standard lease, water and heat are the only things included, aside from the amenities at the clubhouse. Electric and cable are on you, but they have numbers to call for those services.
7.) It's $50 a month to keep a pet in your apartment, though I'm not sure if you'll be doing that.
I hope all this helps. Good luck with the living situation! It was a hassle for me, but once you get it done it is all worth it in the end!
Best,
John Cunsolo
