Hi,

my application very often becomes unstable and that is obviously related
to the CommandWindow settings in my application.ini file.
If "Open=1" it works allright, if "Open=0" it doesn´t.
The problem is, I can set "Open" to 1 as often as I want, it will not
last long and "Open" goes back to 0 and the procedure starts again.
I cannot understand why that happens and when that happens.
Any explanation would be very welcome.

Make sure you have SET TALK OFF, SET CONSOLE OFF and make sure you
don't have any ? statements, i.e.:

? somevalue

If the app isn't trying to write to the command window, it shouldn't
matter what the ini file says about the state of it.

I included console=off and talk=off in my app.ini file and the application
seems to run more stable now, although the problem is not totally solved. At
least there is no more writing to my .ini file. I have no ? statements in my
application.
I run two VdB-applications on the same computer and sometimes windows
indicates an error related to VdB7run. Perhaps there is a point I should
consider (?).

My yesterdays answer got lost somewhere, sorry if it comes up again.
I included talk=off and console=off in my .ini file and my app seems to
run a
little better now. But the problem is not solved and something still
writes to
the .ini file.
What is meant with a "? statement"? Give me an example. I have just
about two
hundred simple entryfields in two forms, which are called from the main
menu.
Another error-messages comes from windows and indicates a problem with
vdb7run
on starting the application. In fact I have two VdB-applications running
on
the same computer at the same time. Perhaps there is a point I should
consider
(?).

The debugging stuff you usually enter during development.

if seek(variable)
do something
else
? variable && to see where the problem might come from

Only that both apps have to be 7.01 (or both 7.0) no mix is allowed.

Very good idea - and so simple! Thank You!

Glad to have finally helped someone after all the help I've received from
this newsgroup. Just relaying advice I received about a year ago from this
site.
