I installed jbuilder5 for a programming class and when I go to use it the only window that text will show up in is the main coding window. The windows on the side and bottom have text in them but it will only appear when highlighted. Basically the text has turned white. It also does this when I make a new project. It's not a debilitating problem but it's very annoying and time consuming. Thanks

Unfortunately I tried that and the problem still remained even after I saved, closed Jbuilder, and opened it back up again. I should also mention that any window that Jbuilder pops up, such as to select or save a file, also has the same problem.
Thanks,

Not knowing anything about your hardware, how old is the video card, and
have you looked for/installed new drivers for it?
I ask because I had odd display problems with a single application (not
JBuilder) a couple of years back with a 3DFx Voodoo Banshee video card. The
symptoms were similar to yours in that certain sub-windows would not show
content. An upgrade to the latest drivers for the card cured the problem.
HTH!
