First of all, keep in mind that there are several issues running IB 6 on
Windows 2003 Server. If those aren't a problem for you, then give it a try.

The hardest part of setting up a cluster involves putting the database on a
drive that can be seen from both servers, either using an external SCSI
device or via a SAN and setting the drive to fail over automatically to the
backup server. Once you get that part set up, the rest should be fairly
easy.

Hi Dan,
today I've done the first step.
The services and the db seem working well passing from a node to the other.
The IBconsole runs veeeeery slow on connection, while it's very fast during
data display.
Tomorrow I'll try to migrate a client from the old IB5.6 to the cluster and
I'm going to see the effects on it of a failing node (obviously on a copy of
the real db).
Regarding those issues you told me... I just followed the instructions gived
me by the software developper... I trusted him. I really don't know anything
about that.
Please could you address me somewhere I can find some of them in order to
pass them to the sw developper?
You've been very kind, thank you.

Dante

PS: sorry for my english...

There are some issues that will cause the connection to the server to run
slowly on Windows 2003 when using IB 6. Sometimes, disabling hyperthreading
will fix the problem. If not, then there's not much else you can do because
IB 6 is no longer actively being developed. IB 7.x is designed to run on
Windows 2003 Server and I would recommend upgrading if possible.

Hi Dan,

as you told me, I'm facing slow connection issues and I'm going to upgrade
to IB7.5.
These issues are limited to the first time connection.
Once connected (after about 1,5 minutes) the client application works fine.
Thank you.
