Interclient/interclient Transaction issue?

I have recently re-installed IB 6 and Interserver/interclient on a new
server. The server is running Linux. Since the install, I've been
having problems with database records not getting updated correctly. If
I only access the database through the app using interserver, everything
seems to be fine. Likewise if I only access the database through
another program, like IB console, everything seems to be fine. However,
when I modify records in one app when the other is running, the other
app does not seem to see the changes. What's worse is that a few times
it has actually destroyed some of the records. Everything worked fine
before I reinstalled the server, so I'm pretty sure it's a server
related issue. Something to do with transaction isolation maybe?
