IBConsole Hijacked by Firebird

I am building a new app with Firebird but I still use IB extensively. When
Firebird is running (Version 2.1 as a service on Vista) IBConsole shows
Firebird 2.1 in the server properties tab instead of the current Interbase
version. Obviously I am unable to open IB files in this case. If I stop
the Firebird service it works OK.

Any Clues Please

Do you run Interbase and Firebird on the same Port 3050?
I yes you must change this port under Interbase or under Firebird

look at config file of Firebird or Interbase
and search for "PORT" or better "3050" value

but remember that you must specify this port when you connect to database
example
if you change this port for Firebird - you can connect to Interbase without
specify port (default port)
but to connect to Firebird you must connect like 127.0.0.1/3051:database
(if you choose 3051 port of course)
and the same
if you change this port for Interbase - you can connect to Firebird without
specify port (default port)

It's an install option when you first install InterBase. To have
InterBase use a different port, select YES to the multi-instance option
when installing.
