Interbase 5.6 WinXP NT Service

Greetings to all,

I have an issue with WinXP and interbase 5.6. Interbase is installed as
service. I tried to stop the "Interbase Server" service using (Net Stop
"Interbase Server"). This also happens if I try to stop the server from the
MMC or services panel. The error that I recieved is:

SERVICES

Could not stop the Interbase Server service on the local computer. The
service did not return an error. This could be an internal windows error or
an internal service error. If the problem persists, contact your system
administrator.

Is there any known bugs with Interbase 5.6 and Windows XP Pro?

I have for the reason as why I am performing the task Net Stop "Interbase
Server" function. I am writing a program to convert from Interbase 5.6 to
6.0. With that in mind, 5.6 databases need to be backup and then restored
with Interbase 6 or one would recieve the infamous unsupported on disk data
structure error.

InterBase 6.0.1.6 and later can read ODS 9 files so you should be able
to do the backup and restore with IB 6.
