barcode recognition

I hope this is the right forum to ask this kind of question:

Does anybody know of some component/library to recognize a barcode in a
picture?
I would like to "tag" a photo taken by a digital camera by placing some
barcode in front of the object of interest.

There is an ActiveX available on www.pegasustools.com

Thanks Yogi. Sorry for the delay in answering.
Your recommendation looks quite promising.
Though I'd prefer a more lightweight component. OpenSource would be perfect
:-) but isn't mandatory.

Any other suggestions?
