Hi group -

I've tried to install Delphi 1 (standard) on Windows Vista. I got it from
the Delphi 4 install CD.

When I start it up, I get an AV immediately. I've tried various
compatibility options but to no avail.

Has anybody else tried this?

Delphi 1 runs fine under Windows XP.

Can anybody help? I seriously need this.

Thanks
Jacob

Go to Google and without the quotes type this in the search box:

"vista 16 bit applications"

Then click "I'm feeling lucky".

I've only just got Vista and I wasn't able to install Delphi 1 either.
However, I just checked out some of my old archived 16 bit Delphi apps
and they all seem to run OK, except the DB ones as I haven't got BDE16
installed.

I ended up keeping my XP machine just for Delphi 1.

Mike Williams reply didn't help me, I'm not sure if it was serious.

Actually, I was serious. I don't run Vista myself and haven't had D1
installed in many years but I was truly under the impression that vista
wouldn't run 16-bit applications. It appears that it's only Vista 64
that doesn't run them.
