Hi All!

Does anybody know of a component that is like a RadioGroup, so that items
can be added programmatically and sorted in columns with a frame around but
not show the radio buttons themselves - so looking more like a groupbox?

I have lots of strings that I want to programmatically add and dont want the
overkill of trying to create a groupbox at runtime with dozens of labels
inside it positioning and sorting them all too into columns.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe this is a stupid reply but, why not use a stringgrid ?

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

However it is not the look and feel I am after - want it to look like a
groupbox but have the features of a radiogroup.

Ok now I am confused.

In my Delphi 6 a groupbox and a radiogroup look exactly the same.
The difference is that the radiogroup auto positions the radiobuttons
something you have to do manually in a groupbox.

Am I missing something here?

Hmm, my thought would be the Raize TRzCheckGroup with a custom bitmap for the
checks, which would be blank. Probably not the ideal solution though.

Won't something like TJvRadioGroup do? (from Jedi VCL)

I had some similar requirements through the years and I have often used
David Baldwin's THTMLView to handle this with great success... with the
flexibility of HTML...

Just an idea.

Hi Adem,

Thanks for the suggestion.

However, just tried the TJvRadioGroup and still no way to hide the radio
buttons as per my request in my original post.

Thanks for the idea Raymond - however it wont match the look and feel of the
other Groupboxes/Radiogroups on the forms.

Hi Matthew,

Thanks for the reply.

I dont have the Raize components unfortunately - I do have the Devexpress
and TMS ones and Jedi but cant seem to find a component amongst them all to
do what I simply need :)

Hi Yannis :)

Using D2007 Ent.

Never used one before - does it look like a Groupbox/Radiogroup when used on
a form? Thats the exact look and feel I need.

I wonder if you could use the flow panel (or a string grid), and place
it inside a groupbox? Not as elegant as a single-component solution,
but immediately available.

Load the flow panel/string grid, then get its size, and resize the
groupbox around it accordingly.

Thanks for the suggestion Tom.

Can the stringgrid or flowpanel be transparent so that it appears as if the
text look like radio items without the radio buttons? The groupboxes and
radiogroups I use today all have a gradient look and feel and adapt
perfectly to the background color scheme so need to maintain this for
consistency with the other controls.

Cheers.

Thanks Tom for letting me know :)

And yes, cosmetic consistency is what is most important in solving this prob
I have.

Hopefully we wont have any Win95/2000 grey left anywhere in the apps at the
end of the day!

Many thanks again.

Ah, now that, I don't know. Without actually checking, my guess would

Why don't you simply make a new copy of the TJvRadioGroup and simply
alter the paint routine.

It sure would take a lot less time than waiting for this NG to come up
with an answer that befits your GUI aesthetics.

Send a support questiong to DevEx. I'm sure they would be able to help,
with sample code, if it possible.
