Hello

I'm searching for a delphi component that helps me to import data from
files (csv, xml, xls) into my interbase's DB, if the row exists I want
to update it, but if it doesn't exist, then to insert it.

I am using Delphi 7 and Interbase 7.5, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You might want to look at SMImport (http://www.scalabium.com/). We have
the export components from Mike and if the options and control of data
are the same in the import then it will definately suit your needs.

Hello Tom,
I'm using scalabium import/export components too and I'm very satisfied with.
Though I'm a bit worried about future updates as there are no changes since
a while on the site...

Hi Reienhold

Mike usually contributes to this newsgroup, I asked about supporting
.NET back in February at that time no definate release date was
available. If you read this Mike any can you give us any indication of
any future releases for SMExport or SMImport.

Thanks Tom

But he is responding very fast for questions and is willing to improve the
tools with ideas of his users.

Anyone willing to post some comparison of the Scalabium solution vs. the EMS
Advanced Import product?

Thanks,
Ron.

Not a component but I have an application in early beta that does this.
If you are interested in testing in it or more information please email
me at jkoz AT mail DOT gr.
I'll need some time to package it though.

I haven't used the EMS product, but I've been a very satisfied user of
SMImport and SMExport for a few years now. The price is a steal too.
Mike's support is superb. Very fast too - I once had a minor bug fix in
less that 20 minutes!

Mike also contributes a lot to the Delphi community - his tips section
on the website is a gold mine of information.

I've no connection with Mike other than being a satisfied customer, but
I can't recommend Scalabium highly enough.

Ron,

Had exactly the same experience as Andrew. Had a weekend problem and
he worked through it with me. We had nine email exchanges over the two
days. THAT's support.

Thanks for all the comments. We managed to overcome the problem we had when
using the ADO provider for Excel to import the data we needed - but when I
get some time I plan on spending more time looking at the components anyway.
It is always good to hear about good products and support - and I am sure
there is more in these components we can use once we are over the current
deadline...

Ron.
