Hello,

does anyone know the PDF creation component "TRolePDF"?

I have just tried this component and i am not sure if it creates valid PDF
files. When i look into a file generated by TRolePDF i find that at many
places there are spaces between key and value are missing. All other sample
PDFs that i have found are containing spaces between keys and values.

Is it legal in PDF to remove the spaces? I get warning messages from Acrobat
reader when i open such a file!

I just wanted to check this before purchasing.

Thanks in advance,
Ralf

Hi Ralf,

There are many cases where you can actually leave out the spaces but generally
you would have spaces between values and fields/operators. If Acrobat reader is
complaining, there could be a problem with that or the problem could be
something else.

I'm not sure if any tool will tell you exactly where the problem is. If you want
to find out exactly, you could email the company.

While on this maybe you want to also take a look at eDocEngine and PDFtoolkit
for your PDF related needs.

Sorry - I don't know that component...
I wouldn't use any component creating PDFs which make Acrobat Reader
complain...

for our PDF needs we use eDocEngine and PDFToolkit and are very satisfied
with it so far... ( take a look at www.gnostice.com )

Hi Ralf,

I'm the the author of the TRolePDF.

About the spaces in the .pdf document:
- If you create a .pdf document using adobe from the web for example you
will see that they remove some spaces.
- I remove the spaces between some items to reduce the .pdf size to make it
downloadable from the internet.

Which acrobat reader version do you use? because TRolePDF is tested using
acrobat 3-6.

Also not that: TRolePDF is designed for adobe acrobat PDF-1.2, but if any
unicode is used it will use PDF-1.5 (acrobat 6).

A russian example (requires adobe acrobat 6)

I wanted to purchase it for my _personal_ use. We registered it at the
company where i work but someone other in our company has worked with it. In
our company i have other projects. But for my _personal_ use i wanted to
know it because the purchase would only be for a hobby project. I want to
pay for things that i use even if it is a non professional project (thats
why the price is very important for me) but only after carefull eveluating.

Ciao,
Ralf
