After a reasonably smooth run with QR3 for the last couple of months
we get tangled up in yet another snag. While it isn't exactly a QR
problem my frustration is such that I will now commit to either
ReportBuilder or ReportPrinter. I've had to eliminate other report
designers because I need end user reporting.
I've looked at both (RP & RB) and my impressions are that RB presents
a cleaner, intuitive interface. Conversely, RP seems to pack more
power.
I notice also the RP has RTF/HTML export filters. Does RB have them as
well, or is it limited to simple text file export?
Could I get some comment?

You should also check out Ace Reporter!
I have been using this for a long time and it has always done what I
needed - and I can tell you that I have needed some rather unique reports
along the way!!!<g>
The support is great - one of the most important things to me!!!
offhand I think the site is at http://www.sct-associates.com

As for HTML Export, RBP doesn't come with it as standard, you can either
write your own, or get a separate add-on product for that. They are listed
on their homepage I think

if you want lots of events for custom reporting then try out HTMLReport
from Baltic Solutions at http://www.balticsolutions.com

Yes, I like it but there's no end user editing which is essential for our
applications.

ReportBuilder combines elegant user-interface with incredible power and
performance. That is why ReportBuilder was just voted Product of the
Year and Best Reporting Tool in the 1999 Delphi Informant awards.
The Report Designer is designed in such a way as to not intimidate
novice developers and end-users. There are also a number of productivity
tools such as the report wizard and drag and drop support.
But don't be fooled by an elegant user-interface. ReportBuilder contains
many advanced features that enable you to easily build complex reports
that are impossible with other tools. Features such as free form
subreports, regions, drill down subreports (with unlimited drill down
levels), hot clickable viewer, report archiving etc.
The Pro version adds a visual data access development environment that
includes a Query Wizard and Query Designer.
I think that if you look at the End-User Reporting solution provided by
ReportBuilder Pro 4, you'll find that its pretty much a no brainer
decision again. ReportBuilder Pro enables you to build a complete
End-User Report solution that includes a Report Explorer that provides a
Windows Explorer style interface for managing reports stored in a
database, Data Access Environment, and a professional Report Designer.
Up next will be our run-time Pascal environment for coding calculations
and envent-handlers at run-time.
We have just deployed a newly designed web site that provides extensive
information and examples the features and capabilities of ReportBuilder.
You can download a trial version and use the tutorials in the new
Developer's Guide to quickly learn how to build reports, reporting
applications and end-user solutions.
The additional report formats you need can be purchased as an add-on
product for about US $30 - see wwww.waler.com.
Good luck!

Looks good, but I think you are limited to Delphi Only ?
Do you support Borland C++ Builder ?
Steve.

Recently there was a review of it in the latest (April I think) Delphi
magazine that gave it a thumbs up. It also won the Reader's Choice award.

Would you happen to know if there is a website and/or newsgroup for
Piparti/Report Builder? I am in semi-desperate need of help there.

PS, unless *you* want to take a stab in the dark over this...

Thanks! As it turned out, I was able to solve my problem, but a little
more verbose help from the online help wouldn't have hurt :)
Thanks again
