Dear Sirs:

Thank you for your help !

I found MSCOMM32.OCX was a good component in Visual Foxpro 3.0 (and
up), and I use it to develop some self-serving software in VFP.
After I met Delphi, I immigrated it into Delphi 4 C/S (in the same
computer,Windows 95), and it works. But after I immigrated it again into
Delphi 4 C/S (in another computer, Windows 98), then imported it to the
palette (ActiveX), and put it into the MainForm, the system show an
error message: "License information for TMSCOMM not found, you cannot use
this control in design mode".

What's wrong ?
What can I do for this message ?
(By the way, I have reinstall the Delphi 4, but it still does not work.)

Best regards,
Freshman Delphi

GUO,

You need to copy the MSCOMM32.LIC file from the original machine's
Windows\System directory to the Windows\System directory on the
new machine.

Hi, ken White:

Thank you for your information, but I can't find the MSCOMM32.LIC in the
original machine's Windows\System directory,even in the computer.
Where can I find one ? Thanks again.

Hi GUO,

It should be installed on the original machine... This was the
way that the older VBX controls worked, anyway.

Have you checked to see if there's information being stored in
the registry concerning licensing for this control?

Hi, Ken:

What I can find concerning with MSCOMM component is the file
MSCOMM32.OCX,which is located in the Windows\System directory.
And it works well in the old computer, but when I imported the component
in the Delphi IDE (in the Windows 98 environment), it created
three files and stored in the ..\IMPORTS\ directory of delphi :

MSCommLib.pas(10.3KB), MSCommLib.dcu(7.68KB) and MSCommLib.dcr(300Bytes)

but it can't work ! Could you find any wrongs here ? And please tell me how
to check the register licensing for this control.

Thank you !

Hi Guo,

I'm afraid I can't be of any more help here... I use Asynch Pro,
and haven't used MSCOMM since an early (and ugly) experiment with
VB3... :-)

Hi Ken,

I have already developed some function (using Windows API) directly to
access the serial port under Delphi.
Thank you very much for your help for such a long time in this topic.
