I have a very curious problem, I'm hoping someone here can help...
The app is written in Delphi 5, we have thousands of users without this
problem but a very few (3 last count) with this problem...
The application cannot be launched by double clicking the desktop icon
or the exe name in Windows explorer. No error message, no splash screen,
nothing. Task manager will sometimes show the exe name in the list of
running processes, sometimes not. When it does, you cannot switch to it,
it is as if it's not running. They can, however, use Task Manager's menu
item
File | New Task... select the exe file and the application will launch
properly
but this is the only way the application can be successfully launched by the
few users having this problem.
Also, when the application is set in the registry's run section to load at
windows
startup it will not load.
Does anyone know what would cause this behavior and what the heck does
Task manager do differently when launching an application ?
Thanks ! I'm desperate to get this resolved and cannot reproduce the
problem on any machine we have here.

John,
Could it be something in the program's initialisation, or perhaps the
current directory it is launched from? However, I don't know what is
different about Task Manager....
David
- Maybe you're app is running from an account with lesser rights?
Which OS is running - Vista? Then the Taskmanager might be running from
administrator account thus having more rights...
(I'm just making suggestions/guesses)
