TopenDialog hides file extensions

D2007 problem on XP

Anybody know why my apps won't display file extensions in any
Topenfile or Tsavefile dialogs ?

I've got all the folder options enables so windows explorer doesn't
hide file extensions.

If I create a very simple project with one button and one openfile
dialog, then that works and I can see the file extensions.

If I make complicated projects, the open/save dialogs eventually lose
the ability to display file extensions, even the Openfile.filename
edit box won't display them and there doesn't seem to be any way to
get them back without scrapping the project and starting again.
