Can anyone give me a comparison of reporting packages for Delphi or tell me
which is the best? Easy to use end user reporting is very important to us.
We have been using rave but we are ditching it because there is no
documentation and has proven to be buggy. It seems that crystal, report
builder and devexpress all make reporting packages that can be used in
Delphi.

What experience have you had with any of these and were they positive?
Are there any others we should look at?
How do these compare to each other?

My impression is that crystal is very extensive but also expensive and not
necessarily easy for end users. Report builder seems really good but they
don't have ASP.NET and we will eventually go there. Devex is the cheapest
but I don't know about its functionality. Does this seem accurate?

Thanks!
Nathan

I have used quickreports with Builder window apps and
Crystal reports with .NET web applications but have not
used any of the others mentioned. Crystal reports works
well with .NET (integrates into the .NET IDE) and you can
do most of the report building within the .NET IDE. Crystal
also has many useful features (built in search, zoom, exports)and you can attatch formulas to many of the report objects, useful for formatting etc. It also works well with active
datasets, but is expensive as mentioned. Crystal support
was above average as well. There is a bit of a learning curve for those required to build crystal reports. With the last web application I used command buttons for report options so the user did not need to know crystal reports, which is one option.

Thanks for your interest in ReportBuilder.

We are working on support for ASP .NET and WinForms. What we do have
available right now is ReportBuilder Server Edition, one of the premiere
reporting solutions available for publishing reports to web browsers and
remote client apps (i.e. thin clients). ReportBuilder Server Edition
currently supports ISAPI and ASP, with ASP .NET and WinForms in development.

Fast-Report is really very good choice!

I haven't any relation with producer. I work with QuickReport and Crystal
Report, too. Crystal is also very good product, but I have some problems
with integration in Delphi. In my opinion, Fast-Report is the best way to
Delphi developer.

I thin banded reports are a big 'BUG'.
