Hello,

i want to use the Windows Image Acquisition Automation Layer to easily
connect to my digital camera. But because COM and Automation are completely
new for me i could use some help. I am hoping that anybody has used this
before with delphi and is willing to let me peek into his code so i can
figure out how i can make use of this library.

Thank you very much in advance,

The Microsoft site about WIA automation can be found here:

Hello,

for anyone who also has problems using WIA automation: after hours of trying
i have found out how you can easily use it in delphi.
The MS help file that comes with it says you should add WIA to your VB
project. I didn't know that Delphi offered a similar approach....
You must choose "install activex" from the component menu. There you select
the WIA automation item from the menu and choose "install".
It could be that you get a EFilerError saying that TCommonDialog already
exists, just like i did. I simply opened the WIA_TLB.pas file and changed
all references to TCommonDialog to TCommonDialog2. Then i compiled and
reinstalled it succesfully. I now have a new tab with a CommonDialog2 and
DeviceManager which i can easily add to my project because now they are part
of the VCL i am used to. The event for the DeviceManager can also be setted
very easily now (and it will actually work ;-) )
You can now use the examples from the MS help file without too much
problems.

Hope this helps!

(btw. i am not at my dev-pc at this moment, so the names i used could be not
exactly right)
