I can't seem to find the correct syntax to assign the contents of a table's
memo blob field in a database to a string list.

Can comeone tell me the correct statement to do so, preferably the most
efficient?

What about from the string list back to the memo field?

StringList.Assign(Table.FieldByName('MemoFieldName').Value) ???????????

What type of database? What connection architecture? TTable or TQuery?

TTable. Do I have to use streams to transfer the data?

Try:

StringList.Text := Table.FieldByName('MemoFieldName').AsString;

You are close:

StringList.Assign(Table.FieldByName('MemoFieldName'));

Works as well the other way round.
