It looks like we need a Renaming refactoring for the community at large.

No, because they haven't renamed to TeamCG in the past...

Since there won't be a b.p.d.n-t soon, nor b.p.d.t for that matter, the
question is probably moot.

Huh? Are you suggesting Borland will keep hosting Delphi groups?

Probably because borland.public.* might disappear as prefix. <g>

So b.p.something will probably disappear. It might become c.p.something
though.

Well, no, but until now, CodeGear is still owned by Borland. Not sure
if the new owners would approve of the mention of Borland (if they care
about the NGs at all, of course).

What does that matter? They just go under a different domain. They are
already accessible as newsgroups.codegear.com. Depending on whether
"CodeGear" is retained or not, that might continue or it'll be something
else.

Because CG is still part of B. Now with CG *not* being part of
B, and with the possibility of the newsgroups moving to E,
then would it not understandable that TeamB become TeamE,
if there were a need for such a Team. Or possibily
TeamE would consist of members of E with some TeamB
retaining their Team membership?

Well, I heard that TeamB does NOT mean TeamBorland, but has historical
roots from when people were still on CompuServe. So it could still
remain TeamB.

Well,... it does have Compuserve roots. But,... As I recall, TeamB
DID mean TeamBorland! (I was there in CIS from 1988-9. ;-) Also, as I
recall, in those days it was Borland that invited persons to become
TeamB members.

I lost all my old tape archive data pre-1997 some years ago so I can't
dredge-up any CIS CLMForum/SDForu, etc., messages where it was
discussed when someone asked "What's TeamB."

I was never on Compuserve. ISDN was only available in our house in
1997, and that was the first time I could go online on my own computer.
The (free) newsgroups already existed, and Compuserve was pretty
expensive, these days.

I was told it didn't refer to Borland directly, only indirectly. I was
told the B only referred to the section you entered when discussing
Borland stuff, so the TeamB name was historical.

I do remember that TeamB was not renamed to TeamI in the I*@&%$! days.

One day my CIS access just stopped but by that time I didn't care too
much because I was already using the 'open' internet. But it did take
two years to get them to stop billing me, and boy was that a

Well, I think it was like $10 in Australia, but it was coming off my
taxes at the time so I wasn't blowing up or anything. I forget what the
exact reason it took so long was. I think they wanted a snail mail
statutory declaration or something, I dunno. Maybe it was just the
Aussie office needing to keep a revenue stream.

The earliest TV I remember was an RCA, I'm guessing mid to late '50s model.
It even had a remote control - 1 button apparently using some radio
frequency. I stumbled on the latter fact by accident when I was 5 or 6
because I happened to walk in front of the TV while playing with my Slinky
and the tuner started flipping as if the button was being pushed!

No, it was ultra high frequency audio sound waves. Different length
aluminum rods, tapped on the end by a spring-loaded "hammer" to excite
the resonance frequency. A microphone in the TV picked up the sound,
it was amplified and filtered. Specific frequencies caused specific
actions. Your slinky obviously produced some high frequency audio in
the range of the control.

Right, UHF radio frequencies. :) (I don't pretend to be an expert on this
stuff though.)

And my Dad produced some as well 'cuz I interrupted The Rifleman... or was
it Perry Mason. <g>

Oh, these kids! I remember one of those old remotes. My dad did TV and
radio service for folks in the area, and had one of those to work on
one time. Rube Goldberg would have liked the design <g>.

Dad got his electronics training from the Army Air Corps. As soon as he
could, which was not long after I was born (1948), I think, he bought a
set.

I still have more than 8 years, 3 months, 25 days and 5 hours to go, to
reach that "milestone" ;-)
