Hi,

Does anyone knows a (preferably) free mail forwarding service, so I can have
a permanent e-mail address ? I used to use mail.com but it has been working
very badly for several months, putting me in a very embarassing situation
because I had my main mail addresses there...

Thanks,
Hub

I use to have bigfoot.com, and have had problems, esp with attachments.

I use USANET which if you have an American Express card is free.

It is also cool as I am living in the USA but am originally from Australia.

You have a problem with Yahoo? Their email system will even let you check
your other emails.

If you register a domain with NetworkSolutions, they have the option to
forward one email address for free to an existing location. A Yahoo account
may fit your bill there.

AFAIK, Yahoo doesn't do redirection, nor POP3 access. Also it adds a small
Yahoo ad at the bottom of every email. So, yes, I have a problem with Yahoo!

That's a very interesting suggestion. A domain name is not that expensive,
and more reliable in the long run than any of the forwarding services out
there. Thanks a lot.

I registered a domain with uk2.net, a .com costs about £35 for 2 years,
(national ones even less). With the free no frills package, you can set up a
mail forwarding service which directs any-a...@yourdomain.com to your
mail provider of choice. You can pay for a better service which allows
multiple forwards such as
h...@adomain.com --> h...@hotmail.com
hubz-P...@domain.com --> hot...@yahoo.com

The big plus is you will never have to change mail address again, whatever
your provider, but the most frustrating aspect is finding a decent .com
domain name which is still available.

poor/mediocre filters and goes down now and again.

I am using USANET for my personal email, but I am phasing it out. I have
the email forwarding enabled, but I noticed that they are not allowing new
users setup premium services, such as email forwarding. They also have a
few quirks with forwarding, not everything gets forwarded!

Presently what I am using for my email forwarding system is Register.com's,
which will give you a "free" email address if you register a domain through
them. They also allow pop access from there servers.

I have been using iname.com for years with no problem. They also have other
domains that you can register with, but I think there is a small fee, so you're
probably better of with your own domain.

Also, I have a yahoo account & yes, you can access via POP3 just fine. And I
use my ISP IP to bypass their servers so I don't get the message ad at the
bottom.

Check out NameZero.com. You can register a domain name with them for very cheap
and they give you email and some web space with it. They're coming out with
some new web features shortly (due last week, but slightly delayed) and they'll
be dropping their usual $24.95 price to $14.95 through July. You only get one
email per domain, which is strange to me, but it's basically just a step above
just registering and forwarding.

I've been using DirectNIC.com for my domain registrations, and used their email
forwarding for a while. But after their servers got hosed-up for several days a
few times, I redirected the DNS addresses to my own box and bypass their system
for active email accounts.
