Software Assurance (I do not know why this information should be hidden):
- Borland is increasing price for SA for a new user up to 30% a first year
(it was around 20% before) I am waiting for confirmation on this one
- You can renew your active subscription for the same % you bought it
originally (there is uncertinaty if % used calculated agains current,
original, discounted price - verification in process). If you are close to
expiration date, contact your Borland sales person.
- There is no information on multi-year SA, but you can cover it with
renewal
- Borland dedicated a team to come up with strategy for BDNS - talk with
your Borland support or sale contact and express your interest - this will
help present our point of view on it. Yes Borland has difficult time to
compite with MS, but I hope they will come up with something reasonable
- StarTeam has two types of licenses: "per name" (in case of 20+ licenses,
you can even try to get them for about 700-600$ per seat), or "float" - per
active connection for group.
I will continue my investigation on these subjects.
> Ok, There is some good news and addition information:
> It usually takes an effort to do interigation... ;o)
I'm not questioning the validity of your information, however it would
be nice to know what your source is.

2) Software Assurance is almost never discounted. Typically we'll discount
the product, but the SA will be based on the list price. The only exception
is in bigger deals where volume is involved.
3) You can purchase 2 to 3 years of SA upfront. The only advantage of
doing this is that we can justify the argument to discount support, since
you are purchasing 2-3 years. In this example you would be entitled to
updates for 2-3 years. You would not be billed for SA until the end of the
3rd year.
4) The cost of SA will never change, but in most cases the SA will be
calculated by the list price of the licenses. In some cases with larger
deals, SA is discounted, but a strong argument has to be made
