It does not seem to be related to the OS version, since it has happened
both under Vista and XP.
As far as we can see there are the following possible variations:
-Inital intall of RAD Studio 2007.
No variation there
-uninstalling ECO and installing a newer version.
Uninstallation the first time may have been done either with RAD studio
installer, or from the control panel.
It may have happened multiple times, before or after installing help
update, and/or december update for RAD Studio.
Installing the help update.
May have been done before installing December update, after installing
december update or not at all.
Installing the december update.
Any help in tracknig this down is appreciated.
And we are particularly interested to know if it has happened to anyone
that also has VS, and if so if it also affects the help visible in VS.
This can show if it related to the whole help system, or just to RAD
Studios way of reaching it.

I thought for a while that the corrupt files in 1800 were the cause of
this problem, but I have now tried:
1. installing 1800
2. uninstalling 1800
3. installing 1842
1. installing 1648
2. uninstalling 1648
3. installing 1842
I have tried to open the help inbetween each step, and in all cases,
the help is correct.

Short version of the story is....

Maybe opening the help was the mistake? It's possible that our users are so
clever that they rarely need help :-) They might not have opened the help
in between versions. Maybe they haven't opened the help at all since
installing the Dec update?
Just an idea of something to try.

Maybe you're onto something. I don't know much about non-.HLP help systems,
but it could be you're talking about registry refreshes that aren't
occuring.
Maybe a reboot after an uninstall or install is needed?
If there's a Microsoft help system that requires registration of keys to the
registry, it is probably running as a service that needs to be stopped and
restarted to detect the changes. Chances are that the help documents
(pages) are registered as a collection identified by a GUID. Try changing
the GUID for the help documents for the next build, it could be that the
same GUID for the collection is confusing the Microsoft Document Explorer.
Just some random thoughts.
I removed RAD Studio help. Then removed ECO.Reinstalled RAd Studio
help.Reinstalled ECO.Rad Studio help is not broken though I am not able
to see any ECO help topics under 'Contents'
