My Delphi Project seems to be scrambled. I can no longer see the tooltips
in the toolbars of delphi ( yes I have hints on). I cannot see the
evaluation of variables when I an in debug mode(yes I have this turned on).
I cannot edit the code when the project is running. It seems that all my
editor, and debug items are messed up and I can't get them back. We are
using Sourcesafe and this did happen after someone checked in the project.
Now we just want to get these items back.
Thanks in advance.

This may not be your problem, but I found that running an internet "popup
window killer" will prevent hints from appearing in the Delphi toolbar.

Mike,

This problem has been driving me nuts.
Can you give me any more info on this
"popup window killer" ?
In particular, was it developed with Delphi
or any common Delphi components that
you know of?

Brad.

Dana,

Any progress on this?

Any other symptoms or possible culprits?

Brad,

The "popup killer" I referred to is a basically an internet browser helper
application. It suppresses those annoying popup windows that appear as you
are browsing sites. I happened to download, and install one to see how well
it actually worked. It works well at suppressing the intended targets, but
I happened to notice that it also "killed" my Delphi hints. (It doesn't
appear to affect MS Office program hints.) I don't know what development
language it is written in. If you do an internet search, I'm sure you'll
come across the one I downloaded, as well as additional info regarding this.

Name please - I need one of those and don't want to waste my time with
that particular one.

Yes, my Delphi has also ceased to display ToolTips when I hold my mouse over
the components on the palette..

As you can imagine, this makes developing VERY difficult! :)
Any solutions would be appreciated.

Right click on the component palette and verify that "Show Hints" is
checked. This is *not* the same as "Show Designer Hints" in the
Environment Options.

I had exactly the same problem. I tried re-installing Delphi, which didn't work, but installing the service pack over it did the trick - must reset something somewhere..
