Icon image is not valid. Error! HELP!!!

When starting the Delphi 4 IDE I get an 'Icon image is not valid' error
message. I have re-installed 4 times now with and without update packs.

The IDE will not allow me to start any new items ( i.e. File|New ) as I get
the same error message. I can open a pre-existing project without a hiccup
and it compiles.

Running winsight and doing a trace b4 starting the IDE yields a
{TDbEngineErrorDlg} DELPHI32.EXE (hidden) "Database Engine Error" message.
Although what this has to do with an invalid icon image is beyond me. :-(

Has anyone had the same problem? Does anyone have any idea what the problem
could be?

I have told Inprise of my problem and they have been unable to reproduce it.

If you have installed Delphi 4 on a system with a previous version of Delphi
installed, I have seen that occur. The problem in both cases was a package
or component I had installed into the libraries, but needed to be upgraded
in order for Delphi 4 to understand them.

That may not be your problem, but what the hey?

No, this is not the problem, no earlier versions of delphi have been
installed on this system and no extra components are installed.
(this is error is occuring straight out of the box - fresh install)

I had this same problem. We were able to fix it by simply saving the default
Project1 and Unit1.
