Problem attaching to Oracle

Hi

I have installed Oracle 8 client tools and completed the Net8 configuration
wizard with a succesful test connection.

On the same machine I have the BDE with SQL links. I created an ORACLE alias
and all is set up correct, but it won't connect to Oracle.

I then installed the latest MDAC and created a UDL file to connect to Oracle
via ADO. All is set up OK, but it won't connect.

I know the BDE and UDL file are setup correct as we have done the same on
other machines (albeit development machines) and the settings are the same
and connect OK.

The BDE error we get is as follows
BDE error: 13059 [$33][$3]
Server Error: 3114
General SQL Error - ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

Does anyone know what I may be missing or need to configure?
