Hi.

I have a client who is running on a novel 5 network. The workstations
are using Win 95 and Win 98. Very often they are getting corrupted
indexes on their paradox tables. Local share is always set to true.
Since it is a Novel network the work stations use the Ipx protocol. Are
there any known issues with the BDE and Novel networks? I have run out
of ideas.

We use the BDE version 5.1.1 and Delphi 3.

By the way. When we use TUtil to fix the corrupt tables it sometimes
tends to wipe out the data in the table. However for the tables that it
does fix, they end up getting corrupted again after a few transactions.
Would ChimneySweep from Sundial Services help fix my tables?

Thanks for your resonces.

Mike.

Check these settings for your Novel Client 32

Auto Reconnect Level = 0
Lock Retries = 1
Read Only Compatibility = On
Packet Burst = Off
Cache Writes = Off
File Cache Level = 0
Max Cache Size = 2048 (assuming a 32meg ram client)

Also there are some versions of Client 32 that have problems. Check the Novel
sites and make sure you are using one of the versions that is stable.

It may help but the only way to know is to try it

Thanks a lot Brian. After the client made the changes they have had 4
users pounding away on my app for 2 days and so far there are no corrupt
indexes :).

Mike, it would be very informative for the rest of us if you would
document here exactly what changes the user made. What was changed and
what remained the same?

The changes that they made are listed above.

P.S. Sorry for the late reply.
