You cannot access Paradox tables without the BDE so you might as well
use the BDE data access components. There is no dbExpress Paradox
driver.

I have tested it a little - the "explorer" utility that you can download
from that site uses it as well.
Rather important though, you cannot use both the BDE and this
component set - the latter uses its own locking mechanism.
There used to be a query-like component on the site as well, but
it seems to be removed. I was talking with the author about
creating a dbExpress driver - but as the query component is
a goner, it cannot be done... :-/

I wrote the parser (reader) for Paradox file in SMImport suite:

There I didn't publish any component that inherited from TDataset (I don't
need it) but to read the Paradox file is not a problem at all (easy file
format)
PS: protected files are not supported in this reader.
