Hi,

I have problems while installing Indy 10.0.52
on BCB6. I tried to find answer in these groups
but unfortunately I haven't succeded to complete
the installation.

This is the procedure I tried:

1) Unpacked Indy 10.0.52 source files
(indy10.0.52_source.zip) somewhere on
my hard drive and kept them as archive.

2) The unpacked source files were in this
folder hierarchy:

IndySystem
IndyCore
IndyProtocols
IndySuperCore

3) Copied those folders (and their contents, of
course) except "IndySuperCore" in the BCB6\Lib
Install folder (for example):

C:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Lib\

4) Opened BCB6

5) Opened: Main Menu / Components / Install Component

6) In the "Install Component" dialog switched to the
tab "Into new package"

7) Pressed Browse in 'Unit file name' section

8) Selected all files with *.pas extension

9) Gave a name for 'Package file name' section, like:
IndySystem10052.bpk

10) Gave a name for 'Package description' section, like:
IndySystem10.0.52

11) Pressed OK

12) IDE opened all selected files and have shown the
confirmation dialog:

"Package IndySystem10052.bpl will be built then
installed. Continue?"

13) Pressed "Yes"

I GOT ERROR AT LINE (IdAssemblyInfo.pas):

uses
System.Reflection, System.Runtime.CompilerServices;

What I did wrong (maybe because the 13th item ;)?

The Indy developers do not currently have any install files for Indy 10
under BCB. There are some third-party packages floating around, though.

Also, the latest snapshot version of Indy 10 is 10.1.3.

That is not a good place to put the files. If you must place them under the
Borland folder hierarchy, then you should use the \Source folder instead of
the \Lib folder, for example:

C:\Program Files\Borland\CBuilder6\Source\Indy

Indy 10 is designed to be used as multiple packages. Each of the folders
(Core, Protocols, System, SuperCore) should be in their own individual
packages.

> I GOT ERROR AT LINE (IdAssemblyInfo.pas):

You included Indy's .NET source files into your package. BCB does not
support .NET.

Are the files you placed in attachments group all what I
need to install Indy 10 on BCB6?

Can you please provide some more details how to
install the files?

Have you experienced some problems with
BCB6 & Indy 10, or it's something else?

Do you refer to the source files that are assorted
only for BCB6 installation, or you refer on automated
install procedures for BCB?

In fact I have't seen any automated procedure for BCB
at all. All the automated installations I saw were made
for .NET, C#, Delphi...

I couldn't find even that (google-ing).

The latest Indy 10 source available at Indy site was
10.0.052 :(

No, it's not a must. I just haven't an idea where to place
them. Is placing somewhere at second (D) partition better?

Do you have an idea what is the easiest way to know if the file
is for .NET, so that I can skip it?

Yes, but you must download it from a mirror server:
http://www.indyproject.org/Sockets/Download/Files/Indy10.iwp >> click at
"Development Snapshot" >> click again at "Development Snapshot" >> choose a
mirror server below (e.g. "Neillans.co.uk (United Kingdom) Mirror") and
click at the FTP link.

Thank you, I have found the code...

Both. Indy 10 has an installer that does not target BCB at this time. And
also, portions of Indy 10's source code is not ready for BCB yet.

Exactly.

That is the release version of the code. The snapshot version of the code
is 10.1.3, and is also available on the website.
