I'm trying to find a way to get BCB6 to use long names for directories
and files in the path. Is there a place to set this in the IDE or is
this one of those things I need to send to Borland Quality Central? I'm
really surprised that I'm still seeing directory names like "BUILDE~1"
as I try to figure out where my files are.

Thanks,

How are you starting BCB6? I vaguely recall that if you start an
application with short names it will only see short names or something
like that. There was a problem with BCB3 where short names would
occasionally crop up but I haven't seen that myself since BCB4.

Thanks for responding, Andrue. I'm starting Builder 6 from a shortcut on
my desktop with this command line "C:\Builder 6\Bin\bcb.exe". I should
have mentioned that this is under Windows 98 SE.

The fact that you don't see the shortened names is very encouraging.

I never trust installing BCB into unusual paths. This includes paths
with spaces, pluses and minuses. There's always been reports of problems
with this. You might try reinstalling into, say, "c:\bcb6".

Thank you, Jonathan. I will reinstall Builder 6 and use paths with no
spaces and will report back.
