1. How do I get line numbers to be displayed in the gutter when editing my
source files?
2. Why is it I am told I have 57 (and counting down) days left for the trial
and when I go to Register Now I am told that the software has been
succesfully registered and the serial number and key are unalterable? Also
the updates from the support page to not install because they cannot
determine the product version.
Thanks, FF.

Don't think you can - why do you need them? I'm not trying to be nasty but
if an error is reported the IDE will take you to the offending line. If/when
you want to do that manually just double click the message in the message
window.
If you just happen to want to go to a line number then use the 'Go to line'
command on the Search menu.
If you want to know what line you are on look bottom left of the edit
window.
Again - I'm not trying to be nasty, I just genuinely puzzled as to what use
line numbers are in the gutter.

You're right I guess, they're not absolutely necessary given the myriad of
ways to navigate the project. I'm just used to having line numbers from
when I used a different editor that displayed them. Thanks :). FF.

FWIW I think there might be a suggestion for line numbers on QC. If
not you can always put one there yourself:
