Is Inprise going to fix this??? I have upgraded to Borland C++ Builder
4.0 and
the BDE is now at version 5.01. When testing the install on a clean
machine (no
BDE, no Borland product) it couldn't merge the configuration file.
InstallShield kept
updating the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Borland\Database
Engine\CONFIGFILE01
key to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland\BDE\IDAPINEW.CFG
instead of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland\BDE\IDAPI32.CFG. Where
is it
getting the IDAPINEW.CFG file????
Previous releases of my software was with BDE v4.00 and I had no
problems. Now
that I've updated my compiler software (and therefore the BDE) I have a
real problem and can't
release any more software until it gets fixed. Makes for bad business
relationships....
I need to get released software out to customers and I can't get a
"healty" IS image!!!

I think you have the same problem I haev. There seems to be some 'timing
problem' (as they call it) when installing the BDE version 5. I tried it
with Wise 6 and also with IS Express, but we still have customers that haev
problems installing it. It occurs on random systems, new and fast, slower
and older, Windows 95 as well as Windows 98. I cannot understand it.
I searched for patched for Wise as well as fior IS, but could not find them.
If you do, please let me know.

I hope that this will help some of you, and I hope that someone can point me
in the right direction.
