In the BDE administrator, the Oracle database Definition list shows the
default 'Blob Size' value is 32.

Questions:
1. Why is this defaulted to such a low value?
2. What would be the negative effects of setting this to something really
high (like 10,000)?

TIA
John

1. Search me! Probably because it uses local memory as a cache.
2. The maximum value is 1000 (1 meg). You use more local memory.

As far as I can tell, there is no Max. Using v5.10, I can set it to 10,000
and read/write 5Meg AVIs perfectly.

Interesting. The BDE help says:
Range: >32 and <1000

The BLOB SIZE parameter applies only to dead blobs. Perhaps you are using a
live query?
