Hi all,

We (Borland) are trying to compile white papers on EJBs and our AppServer.
Rather than just update our FAQs, we have decided to write articles/papers
that addresses (multiple) questions on a certain topic.

And the contents of these articles/papers should be user driven - based on
what users of our AppServer (i.e. you) feel needs to be addressed/explained
by Borland.

So, I request that you send in questions that you would like Borland to
provide an answer to - or topics you would like explained in detail. I
should mention that these questions should pertain to the AppServer product
and EJBs.

Please mail your responses to: ejb...@borland.com

I'd like to thank you in advance for the time & effort taken to send in your
responses. See below for details on the Email format.

The format of these questions should preferably be grouped into topics much
like how our newsgroups are organized (Email SUBJECT should be either
EJB, EJB-CMP, INSTALL-EXAMPLES, NAMING, OTHER, PERFORMANCE-CLUSTERING,
TRANSACTIONS-JDBC-CONNECTORS etc).

Sample Email 1:
To: ejb...@borland.com
Subject: EJB-CMP, PERFORMANCE
Body:
I have a CMP Entity bean finder that returns 1000s (or more) rows. Is
there any setting or property in the Borland AppServer that would ensure
that:
(a) I get results fast (I typically need only a subset of the entire
set of rows at one time)?
(b) the AppServer does not run out of memory since I can give it (the
java vm) only a limited maximum heap size?

Sample Email 2:
To: ejb...@borland.com
Subject: TRANSACTIONS, PERFORMANCE, CMP
Body:
I use 'Serializable' as my JDBC driver's isolation level. However, this
setting seems to slow down performance (and/or I get database lock
exceptions) when the load on the AppServer (and database) increases.
Are there any settings that might help?
