Dear All,
Thanks Sherif for setting up the group. I think the meeting last time was very fruitful and we managed to narrow down the coalition’s objectives to the following two:
1. Ensuring a transition to a true democratic political system
2. Ensuring a wide participation in the democratic process
In order to support the achievement of the above two goals we had outlined three deliverables to be worked on simultaneously as follows:
1. Lobbying for a representative constitution or at least the insertion of a “seventh” point ensuring that the new president is obligated to take the necessary actions to change the constitution once in office. This will be led by Sherif Abdel Wadood
2. Arranging a convention which allows all opposition groups to have a united front to ensure that the goals of the revolution are maintained and to allow each group to publicize what they stand for. This will be led by Hisham Akram
3. Educating the public in terms of what democracy means, what the constitution means, the different forms of government, how to elect a president or a member of parliament…etc. As I understood it the group represented by Safa Khater has already started doing this and therefore will be led by them
I believe that all three projects require volunteers to bring them to fruition so if anyone is interested please contact the project leaders. In addition we need each of the project leaders to outline their plans for the execution of each project and the timeline if relevant. Accordingly I suggest we have a meeting on Tuesday March 1st at 8pm.
I would also encourage all members to get as many people involved in this coalition as possible. As a first step please forward this email to members of your respective groups as well as the email sent by Sherif Barakat to allow them to join the Borgasy coalition and have more volunteers working on each project.
Cheers,
Tarek
Dear all,
Sorry for not replying earlier, as I was a bit busy past couple of days.
Regarding the 3rd initiative “Educating the public”, please refer to the group members:
Maha Hindawy mhin...@gmail.com
Lamia El Sadek (will provide shortly)
Will make sure, hopefully ISA, to have representatives from the group attending next Tuesday’s meeting to discuss the project outline, scope and plan, and merge our efforts and other similar initiatives as possible.
Best of luck to all of us,
Safa

All,
I think the last meeting was very productive. We come up with the following plans to further our two of our action points:
1. The awareness team are meeting on Saturday at 7pm at DLA’s offices in Garden City to start assigning roles for the awareness campaign. Any volunteers interested in working with them are welcome to join the meeting
2. The Convention team will share the document they developed which discusses the format, blueprint and procedures for the convention and will send an email with the time and place for the meeting to discuss the convention action plan.

Please join the google group that Sherif Barakat set up as it will be easier to communicate via the Google group.
