to Borderlands - An Audiovisual Interface for Granular Synthesis

I tried using Borderlands for the first time last night with my AirPods. Even with the system audio set to use the AirPods the BG audio was coming from the iPad's speakers. Is this normal? Am I doing something incorrectly?

Bluetooth audio is only currently supported via audiobus or AUM
