In the process of legally “dissolving” the Friends of the
Border To Border as an independent 501c3 non-profit group and reforming it as a
Committee of the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative (HWPI), in late April a “Favorable
Determination” (to dissolve) letter from the State Attorney General’s office
was received by the Friends. The next, and final step (from a State of Michigan
standpoint) was to file to receive a Certificate Of Dissolution with the State
of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
After these steps are taken, notification and filing with the Federal Internal Revenue Service completes the process. But until all the legal procedures are completed, the Friends of the B2B Trail will still be in existence as a 501c3 non-profit although we will be working closely with the HWPI to make the transition making the Friends into a committee at the HWPI once the legal dissolution is completed.
