Enjoy a leisurely 45 minute walk on the Border To Border (B2B) Trail and connecting feeder trails on national “Opening Day For Trails Day”. A project of the Rails To Trails Conservancy (https://www.railstotrails.org), events this 2nd Saturday of April are meant to kick off the spring trail season by encouraging people to visit local trails for a walk, run, ride or special event. Participants can also visit the Rails To Trails website and register for a free raffle of outdoor equipment.
The walk on April 13th will take participants not only on the B2B Trail but also segments of a fitness path that was constructed when the hospital moved to it’s present location in the late 1970’s. The fitness path was recently restored, and new signage installed, through a grant from the Washtenaw County Health Department. The walk will feature great Huron River view and also pass by seasonal ponds that right now have some VERY vocal frogs.
The St. Joseph Mercy Opening Day walk will start from a trail parking area located at 5402 McCauley Drive (Google map at https://goo.gl/maps/Z31tyLr4zut). The parking area is on the north side of the road and just north of the main hospital building. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Dogs are welcome if leashed at all times and please bring “pick-up” bags. The walk will be canceled if raining at the 10am start time. The walk is sponsored by the Friends of the Border To Border Trail (www.bordertoborder.org - www.facebook.com/B2BTrail). For more information contact Bob at wolv...@gmail.com or 734-218-3307.
