A new event for BnA!!! Stand up Paddle boarding or SUP for short!

In conjunction with Mike Wilson (an old time BnA'er) we will be running our first SUP expedition trip based on recent feedback received and also the fact that Mike offered to run a trip! (Thanks Mike). If you've never done SUP and want to give it a go this will be a good chance. Further details to be released but I can provide this information to you for the moment from Mike:

Experience wise you would just need to be water confident. Both venues are max 3m deep and less than 100m to shore, but expect to get wet... Therefore...
Bring togs, towel, wetsuit or rash vest, sun gear... Glasses (float or restraining strap) sunhat, lotion, etc
For cold weather gear, beanie, polorfleece jacket (essentially gear for
the weather on the day).
Lunch and drink bottles. A waterproof holder for phones etc (about $20 from Burnscoe or similar, and useful for all outdoor trips)
If anyone has dry bags even better.

If you need to hire a SUP then we'll meet @ supcentre in Newmarket. Hire cost is about $50.

We can carpool from there to the venue (TBA on day depending on wind direction). but it will be in Howick most likely.

Further details to come when I get them from Mike.

Numbers currently limited to 8-10 people.
Also if there is anyone who has their own SUP and is experienced and willing to help out please reach out to me as this will enable us to increase the numbers.

Thanks
Steve and Mike!

SUP BnA!!

With the recent restrictions for covid-19 we'll still going to be going ahead with this event next weekend. Easy enough to socially distance on a paddleboard anyway!
However we are going to limit the group number to 10 in case the government decides to do the same! 😒 and because it's a bit more manageable.

If you need to hire a board you need to visit the supcentre and book it ahead of time. Please do this this ASAP so you can ensure you get the right size prior to next Sat. If you hire on the day you'll hold the group up. Probably will need a full day hire.

You need to be confident in water but you don't need to have paddle boarded before, plus we can then all laugh at each other falling in .
We'll meet at the hire place and there will be transport to the site for you and your board if needed.

(SUP) See U Paddleboarding....

Hello,

NZ is at alert level 3 now for Covid19 and will be going to alert 4 shortly. This event will be cancelled as a result. If you've already booked your paddleboard then please get a refund on it. It shouldn't be a problem. We'll keep it on the list to do at a later date when things settle down.

Thanks
Steve
