Hello fellow BnA cyclists,
Time to explore
some of the great cyclepaths that Auckland has to offer. Maybe you've
ridden lots of them already but it's always better in a group.
I've
got a route in mind starting right at the bottom of the harbour bridge
at Westhaven marina Car Park, heading up through Herne Bay along the Grey Lynn greenway
then onto the western cycleway. Heading west we'll cycle through Oakley
creek and waterview shared paths before crossing the motorway on the
artistic Te Whitinga bridge doing a loop and rejoining the Waterview
path again where we'll head back into the city via the lightpath and
viaduct cycle paths and end up where we started. Route subject to
change.
Looking at around 30-40k of easy/intermediate cycling,
any type of bike will do the job, but the surface will be sealed at all
times.
Most of the cycling will be dedicated cycle paths or quiet streets. Note I've gone for a Sunday afternoon for this event which is slightly different to normal.
Thanks
Steve

Hello, If your thinking of coming to the Urban ride this Sunday afternoon then please do read this!!!
I've changed the start location to Western Springs main carpark (outside the public toilets). It might be tricky to find parking in there but there is street parking around and it should be free. You can always maybe park on the other side of the park and ride through?
This means there will be a 20km ride option now which will take about 2-2.5 hours to do the waterview loop and if people want to go further afterwards to make up a 30-40km ride there will be that option also. The ride will be a social ride and we'll be stopping to talk about landmarks at certain points.
Please be there at 1:30PM and we'll be looking to get underway at 1:45PM.
Facebook says the weather will be good at this stage. Please RSVP (Facebook or email) if you do come so I know to look out for you.
