Hey people!
Got a good old urban bushwalk and coastal walk planned to celebrate the start of summer. I've never done the Waikōwhai Walkway but I hear its a goodie. Likely a number of BnA's have done it before but there is a lot of loops you can make up and it's local for us Aucklanders.
So the provisional plan is to meet at Waikōwhai Park main area with parking and toilets and do a loop heading up to Lynfield cove way along the track and coming back on the beach/rocks. Low tide is around 2PM so shouldn't be a problem. So we won't walk the whole track, maybe save the other side for next time.
For those who might want to get a training walk in before the Rees-Dart this could be a good opportunity to don your pack and boots and do some hills.
I'm thinking we can do around a 8-12K loop at a casual pace and have a good explore. If you can only do shorter that's fine.
Meet time of 10AM and bring lunch, something to carry water in, subscreen, hat's etc. Please RSVP so I can figure out numbers.
