Hello BnA Bikers

Due to popularity I'm running another urban cycle event to showcase what Auckland has to offer in terms of traffic free shared cycle paths. I haven't completely formalised the route yet but likely it will be something that incorporates Wynyard Quarters, Grafton gully, Mt Eden (Maybe), Grey Lynn Park, Cox Bay reserve and the northwestern cycleway. It'll be around 20k again and a couple of gentle/moderate hills thrown in this time.

Will be easy/intermediate cycling, any type of bike will do the job, but the surface will be sealed at all times. There will be inner city backroads to navigate on this ride but I will use cycle lanes and paths as much as possible. This is a non drop ride and expect a social pace but a moderate level of bike fitness is recommended.

DETAILS: (Note this is a Sunday afternoon ride)
Leaving @ 2PM at Erin Point park where the pools are (Subject to change). Parking there is plentiful and there are toilets in the park. Anticipate a 3-3.5 hour loop.

See you then!

Hello BnA Bikers,

I've finalised the route and looking forward to taking you around some more of Auckland and the fab cyclepaths it offers. We can see how we go on the day but the route will be as I originally suggested including cycling up the traffic free road to Mt Eden (Optional) and also a wizz down through the Auckland domain before we rejoin back on Grafton gully and the Te Ara I Whiti path (Lightpath).

This route is about 22k and there are some reasonable climbs on it so I recommend that you have some bike fitness handy. Also note that there will be some on-road cycling but I've picked quiet back roads where this occurs, but you should have confidence riding in traffic if required.

Here is a map of the planned route - https://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/2888093056

Should be able to park in the Pt Erin Pool's carpark and if that is full there is street parking.

See you then.

Any questions please let me know. Also if you are planning on coming please let me know so I can expect you.

Thanks

Steve
