I don't know about all plugins, but in the case of old Astute Graphics plugins you can find them in the "Apps & Features" panel of the Windows Control panel (Add and Remove Programs in System Settings). Might be worth a look.

As of now there are two locations where we can place plugins .aip file for Adobe Illustrator in MAC.
E.g.
First path => /Applications/Adobe Illustrator 2020/Plug-ins.localized/AIHostAdapter.aip

Hey all. I was interested in developing some illustrator plugins and I'm having a bit of difficulty. I've downloaded the sdk and I'm using VS code but I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. I don't think the tutorials aren't written for VS code and I haven't had any luck with opening or compiling any of the example files in the sdk.

As a illustrator and designer I need to fill my designs with some texts. The easiest method is using dummy Lorem Ipsum. But it is too complicated to open some web browser go to or some other site, copy the content and paste it into Illustrator text field.

Interesting tip, but were can i find PDF in the preview handlers? If i click "configure", nothing happens for most plugins, i can't find it in the plugin manager either. Maybe there is none, since i only use Windows 10 native PDF viewer?

At this time Affinity Designer does not support plugins, but you should throw in your vote on this thread on the Affinity forums: Plugins for DESIGNER & PHOTO! - Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop - Affinity Forum

Some of our favorite plugins of theirs include VectorFirstAid and Phantasm. VectorFirstAid allows for efficient cleaning of your documents by eliminating redundant information. This means that it can convert outlined text back into point text, simplify complex paths by removing unnecessary anchor points, and more. Phantasm adds photoshop-like color effects such as hue, saturation, and lightness adjustments to your entire document, and has a halftone creation function as well. This just barely scratches the surface of what these plugins have to offer. We recommend checking out their full suite over on their site.

A necessity for those who spend a lot of time making any kind of technical drawings in Illustrator. CadTools 12 brings a suite of measurement and drafting tools into Illustrator that mimic the functionality of AutoCAD. This suite of plugins is extremely useful for floorplan or elevation drawing, technical drafting, creating notes, labeling objects in the document, working with different scales, and more.

Cineware is definitely one of the more interesting Illustrator plugins out there. It allows users to add and edit 3D objects directly from within Illustrator. Created by Maxon (the same folks who made Cinema 4D), Cineware is primarily meant to be used for generating product and packaging mock ups, and for incorporating miscellaneous 3D elements within your 2D vector scene.

SymmetryWorks is a pattern generator that can help with making patterns perfectly tile-able/repeatable. No more pesky seams between tiles. The power of this plugin lies in the fact that illustrators can edit the motif and the patterns and seams rebuild themselves instantly. All necessary rotations, reflections, transformations, etc are all automatically applied. This saves a lot of time and allows illustrators to iterate on their designs very quickly.

Fortunately, there are a handful of useful plugins out there that can help us to speed up our workflow. While Illustrator can't claim quite the same kind of rich plugin ecosystem as Photoshop, there are still very worthwhile additions to your toolbox to be had.

It is clear that Symmetry Works belongs to the category of specialist plugins which save you a huge amount of time on very specific task. However, we also have to take into consideration a negative aspect: the price.

In order to install the plugin, Origami needs to modify your Adobe Illustrator installation (to copy the plugin files inside Illustrator). Both Mac OS and Windows do not allow applications to modify each other by default, so Origami requests an administrative access to your computer to make the changes. Once you click Continue a system pop up will be shown and ask you to let Origami to make the changes. Please do so, as otherwise the plugin will not be installed. If you are concerned about the changes Origami makes to your system, use the Manual button for more details about the process or for manual plugins installation.
