Members of the Boost Steering Committee,
I sent this to Jon Kalb and had a phone conversation with him about it.
He suggested that I run it by some members of the Boost Steering
Committee. As I don't have you email addresses, I'm posting here. Feel
free to pass it on to your cohorts.
As you might know, I've taken on the task of getting CMake pushed
through the Boost "process". Tomorrow is a mile stone date in that
process - posting a request for submissions meeting a specified set of
requirements and scope and specifying the rules by which submissions
will be reviewed.
I've received very little feedback - non of it actually negative, but
not too much positive either. (actually, I got some positive feedback
from boost users!). In particular, I haven't received any from anyone
on the board of directors - who issued an edict on the subject a year
ago. I'd like to know before I jump in with both feet if someone might
be inclined to pull the rug out from under me when I do this. I don't
think anyone might do this intentionally, but it's possible that no one
takes a real look at it until it looks like something might actually
happen. If someone has reservations, I'd much rather hear about this
before I start really pushing it rather than after,
In other words, is the BOD behind this effort or not. I would like any
feedback sooner rather than later as I had originally planned on posting
this "Requirments and Scope" document on 1 November.
