Boost Steering Committee:
We’ve been approached by company that would like to sponsor Boost.org.
This is a little interesting because it was unsolicited and the company doesn’t market to developers.
I’ll admit to being a little skeptical at first, thinking it is either spam or scam, but after trading a few emails, I get the impression they are genuine. Here is a list of other donations that they have made. I’ve included their level of donation (as listed on the recipient’s webpage) and the dollar amount it reflects. (Panda Internationals doesn’t reveal, that I can find, the amounts required to be listed at a given level):
https://www.pandasinternational.org/panda-partners/ (Bamboo Leaves Partners $???)
https://elephantconservation.org/fundraising/donor-acknowledgement/ (Donors $1-$499)
http://www.sfbike.org/our-work/bikes-business/business-membership/ (Bronze Business Member - $500)
https://www.procon.org/view.background-resource.php?resourceID=002640 (Supporter $1000 - $4999)
The pattern seems to be that they make modest, but real donations to genuine charitable causes.
There question to us is “What is the minimum donation for Boost?”
I’ve explained that our model has never been to rely on donations, but we’d be happy to accept one and that I would consult you (the Steering Committee) on this issue.
They suggested that they’d like something like this:
note the logo, name, and link under “Strategic Partners.”
We’ve discussed a “Nascar” page before, but we’ve not moved forward on it. Here is an opportunity.
Please share your thoughts.
Thanks.
Jon
I’m all in favor of accepting donations. Let’s go ahead with this.
