Alcohol 120% is a disk image emulator and disc burning software for Microsoft Windows developed by Alcohol Soft. An edition named Alcohol 52% is also offered which lacks the burning engine.[2] The software can create image files from a source CD/DVD/Blu-ray, as well as mount them in virtual drives, all in the proprietary Media Descriptor File format; images in this format consist of a pair of .mds and .mdf files.[3]

Some software manufacturers employ software blacklisting methods to prevent Alcohol 120% from copying their discs. Initially, users had to use third-party tools to counteract the blacklisting, such as Anti-blaxx, CureROM, and Y.A.S.U. Later, Alcohol 120% included its own "Alcohol Cloaking Initiative for DRM" (A.C.I.D) component.[4]

Having read with interest something about the use of Rubbing alcohol (or, the writer said, Isopropanol or denatured alcohol is the same thing) onto pastel to help create an interesting underpainting, I decided to see if it was available in the UK.

as a nurse for many years I would shy aware from turps, mineral spirits and the like before alcohol. If you are going to use a mask, use the correct mask for the chemical. I am more concerned about pastel dust than alcohol.

Please try the instructions below to fully clean Alcohol and SPTD from your system and try to install it again:

To uninstall Alcohol you should use the Uninstall icon on Alcohol program group in the Start menu. For the case you have deleted Alcohol Uninstall icon from Start menu you should just browse to Alcohol folder and manually run "uninst.exe".

If you are unable to uninstall Alcohol using the uninstaller (this means installation is corrupted) then please just delete all files from Alcohol folder (default: "C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120" on 64-bit systems), then download and run the following tool to completely remove SPTD driver installed by Alcohol:

After removing SPTD from your system and restarting Windows as requested by the tool (please note that you may need to reboot twice in some cases, the tool will tell you) then please try to reinstall the latest version of Alcohol again.

Alternatively to the sptdremov tool you may remove SPTD manually, to do it please run regedit.exe, then browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ and delete sptd and sptd2 key (you may need to adjust cfg key permissions to delete it). Also please browse to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and delete sptd.sys and sptd2.sys file(s). Restart Windows. If you were unable to delete SPTD key in registry then please try to delete it again now, after deleting the driver file(s) and restarting Windows, or just try to remove it in Windows safe-mode, it is very important you delete this key.

If you continue having problems please try to temporarily disable (or even uninstall) your real-time antivirus, firewall or any other security software and try to install Alcohol again. We had some reports recently of anti-virus and security software (like ZoneAlarm, Spyware Doctor, F-Secure and PC Tools ThreadFire products) preventing SPTD to install and/or work correctly.

For instance large bodies of water, will be done with large strokes and smaller area like rocks might be dabs, clouds might be blotted. Grassy areas will be close to dry brush (still wet though, you need the alcohol to seal the soft pastel) and will be done with strokes going up or sideways. All depends on what you area painting and what look you are going after before you apply oil pastels. For rocks and clouds I want to see lots of texture and patterns, these helps me when I begin actually painting with oil pastels.

A new type of soft contact lens was developed from the poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel prepared by a low temperature crystallization technique using a water-dimethyl sulfoxide mixed solvent. The PVA contact lens materials had a water content of 78% and a tensile strength of 50 kg/cm2, five times as strong as that of commercial poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) soft contact lens. The amount of proteins adsorbed to the PVA soft hydrogel material was half to one thirtieth of that of conventional soft contact lenses. Histological and scanning electron microscopic observation of rabbit eyes which had worn the PVA soft contact lens for 12 weeks showed no difference in corneal epithelium and cell arrangement in the corneal epithelium from the non-wearing eyes.

Humans have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years. Alcohol is both a chemical and a psychoactive drug. In chemistry, an alcohol exists when a hydroxyl group, a pair of oxygen and hydrogen atoms, replaces the hydrogen atom in a hydrocarbon. Alcohols bind with other atoms to create secondary alcohols. These secondary alcohols are the three types of alcohol that humans use every day: methanol, isopropanol, and ethanol.

Ethanol (or ethyl alcohol) is the type of alcohol that over two billion people drink every day. This type of alcohol is produced by the fermentation of yeast, sugars, and starches. For centuries, people have consumed ethanol-based drinks, such as beer and wine, to change the way that they feel. However, ethanol also has harmful effects on the body. The human liver can metabolize ethanol, but only in limited quantities.

Ethanol is toxic, so it damages the liver, the brain, and other organs over time. Ethanol also inhibits the central nervous system, thereby impairing coordination and judgment. Additionally, binge drinking and other forms of alcohol abuse can cause a person to develop debilitating alcohol addiction.

There are two categories of alcoholic beverages: distilled and undistilled. Undistilled drinks are also called fermented drinks. Fermentation is the process by which bacteria or yeast chemically converts sugar into ethanol. Wine and beer are both fermented, undistilled alcoholic beverages. Wineries ferment grapes to make wine and breweries ferment barley, wheat, and other grains to make beer.

Distillation is a process which follows fermentation. The process converts a fermented substance into one with an even higher concentration of alcohol. Distillation concentrates alcohol by separating it from the water and other components of a fermented substance. Liquors and spirits are distilled alcoholic beverages. They contain more alcohol by volume than undistilled drinks. In general, a distilled alcoholic beverage will have a higher alcohol proof.

Alcohol by volume (ABV) and alcohol proof are two measures of alcohol content, or the concentration of alcohol in a drink. Alcohol by volume is the number of milliliters of ethanol per 100 milliliters (or 3.4 fl.oz.) in a solution, while alcohol proof is twice the percentage of alcohol by volume. For example, a drink which has 50% ABV will be 100 proof.

There are many different kinds of alcoholic drinks, and some of them contain more alcohol than others. The types of alcoholic drinks with higher concentrations of alcohol are able to cause drunkenness and alcohol poisoning more quickly and in smaller doses.

Absinthe is a spirit made from a variety of leaves and herbs. There is no evidence for the idea that absinthe is a hallucinogen, but it does have a high alcohol concentration. Some forms of absinthe have about 40% ABV, while others have as much as 90% ABV.

Any type of alcoholic beverage can be the source of an alcohol use disorder. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcoholism, contact a treatment provider to learn more about recovery options.

You may have read or heard health advisories that caution you against chugging too much alcohol or downing a can of cola (or whichever soft drink your choice of poison is). But are they equally harmful to your health or is one more dangerous than the other? Read on to find out.
