I'm currently studying a Psych degree and it's quite statistics heavy. My laptop just died but I have an ipad pro 11 inch I'm considering using for uni. My main concern is It won't run the statistics software JASP my uni uses. Any ideas? Would really prefer to use the ipad over buying an m1 mac air ??

The present study explicitly examines the combined effects of seating position and computer use. Applying Sternberg's additive factors method, we predicted that if both factors are mediated by the same cognitive process, then the effects of seating position and computer use should interact, i.e., one would expect students who sit near the front of the class to be affected the least by computer use, and those who sit at the back to be impacted the most. On the other hand, if the mechanisms underlying the two factors are independent, then one expects the effect of the two factors to combine in an additive manner. There are, however, some important limits to this additive factors logic, which we will explore further when discussing our results. For now, we note simply that it is possible that if the factors of seating position and computer use combine in an additive manner, their individual influence on academic performance may be independent, but the cognitive mechanism underlying where one chooses to sit and whether one does or does not use a laptop, may be the same.

About four years ago, I ran an Arduino workshop for adults. Two people (at different times) 'destroyed' a USB output on two different Sony Vaio laptops. The USB sockets were plugged into the Arduino. After the accident, we tested the sockets with a USB mouse and, IIRC, USB keyboard to see if they had recovered.

If the short was via the polyfuse, then that might indicate the USB host was not able to limit current. Unfortunately, IIRC, I put the Arduino's to one side, and worked on diagnosing the problem with the laptops. The Arduino's were not used until enough time had passed that their polyfuse may have reset. Or the polyfuse may have been bypassed, and I couldn't tell.

Mastering Statistical Analysis and Visualization using JASP (June 5): In this session, participants will learn how to use JASP- a free, open-source statistical software program to import data from a variety of sources (CSV, Excel), create plots, run statistical tests, including t-tests, ANOVAs, and regressions, and interpret results of statistical test. Please bring your laptop for the session

Excel Skill Building: From Processing to Analyzing to Visualizing Your Data (June 26): The session will cover basic building blocks in Excel. We will begin by discussing data structures, formulas, and manipulating data. Then, we will move on to visualizing and analyzing your data, using a variety of examples. Please bring your laptop for the session

Getting Started with Creating VR Experiments Using Unity Engine (July 3): Join this hands-on demo where you will learn about the basics of creating graphical applications with the Unity game engine, working with virtual reality equipment, and using those skills for research purposes. VR-capable laptops are welcome but not required.

Finetuning a Transformer to Classify Text Response Data (July 17): Analyzing text response data is a common task in the social sciences. Recent advances in natural language can assist researchers in analyzing text data, reducing the need for human labor. In this workshop, we will explore a transformer-based approach to sentiment-classification, using a dataset of IMDB movie reviews. This skills workshop will be carried out using the Python programming language (no previous experience required). Please bring your laptop for the session.

UTC Library offers Dell Latitude laptops for up to 3 hours in the library. These are available at the 1st floor Check Out Desk for current UTC students, faculty, and staff with a valid MOCS card. Other equipment (including laptops) may be available for check out for longer periods.

We do not store patron files on our desktops or laptops. Patron files inadvertently saved to library computers will disappear upon logging off. Library users have the following options for saving files: UTC MocsNet account, USB flash storage device, or a personal email account (mail an attachment to yourself).

This can only be accessed when using a Swansea University networked PC or staff laptop. This loads when you log in or can be searched for via the Start Menu. The unified desktop also has a number of Assistive Technology products available.

Hi.
I've tried to play at Jedi Academy with wine 1.1.32 on Arch64. The installation was fine, no errors. But when I want to launch the game via jasp.exe in the GameData folder, i've various errors :

Print jobs can be sent directly to the printers from library computers. Instructions for printing from laptops and mobile devices are available on the main page in WebbConnect.

Community patrons, please ask the Circulation staff for assistance with printing.

The JASP previewer allows users to inspect the annotated output of a .jasp file on the OSF, even without JASP installed and without an OSF account. The graph shown on the cell phone displays the Anscombosaurus (see -datasaurus-never-trust-summary.html). Figure available at under under a CC-BY license

JASP currently reads the following file formats: .jasp, .txt, .csv (i.e., a plain text file with fields separated by commas), .ods (i.e., OpenDocument Spreadsheet, a file format used by OpenOffice), and .sav (i.e., the SPSS file format).

* The reason we advise staying logged out on the second device is that Zoom allows you to be logged in on one device of each type (PC, tablet, and phone) at a time. If you are signed in on both the lectern PC and a second laptop, the first device will be logged out automatically.

Solstice Pods and Solstice Display Software enable users to display their smart phone, tablet, or laptop without the constraint of a cable. This allows the presenter to be more interactive and engaging with his/her audience.

Objectives
The aim of this workshop is to enable participants to calculate effect sizes for experimental and correlational designs and to introduce them to the principles of how to conduct a meta-analysis. Bring a laptop to get hands-on experience. Participants will learn to calculate effect sizes with a spreadsheet made available online beforehand for registered users. Participants learn the basic steps in conducting a meta-analysis and will be sensitized to the importance of assessing published meta-analyses critically.
