Hey Boone SGI people!  Here are some great quotes that were in my daimoku charts.  The third one really touched me, especially after talking to this guy who is interested in Buddhism,  has come to a meeting and yet is very contrary and challenging.  He once told me that he didn't  see the difference between  chanting daimoku or "i like  hotdogs"  RAWR!!!  anyway just read the quotes.

You, yourself, are a Thus Come One who is originally enlightened and endowed with the three bodies.  You should chant  Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with this conviction.  Then the place where you chant daimoku will become the dwelling place of the treasure tower.
(The writings of Nichiren  Daishonin, vol. 1, pp. 299-300)

When you chant the daimoku of this sutra, you should be aware that it is a more joyful thing than for one who was born blind to gain sight and see one's father and mother, and a rarer thing than for a man who has been seized by a powerful enemy to be released and reunited with his wife and children.
(WND-1, 143)

Nichiren Buddhism is the "Buddhism of sowing."  To the degree that you sincerely and earnestly talk about this Buddhism, your efforts will become the seeds of fulfillment and happiness in your life and in the life of the other person, regardless of his or hear reaction to what you have to say.  Those seeds will definitely germinate into flowers of fulfillment and happiness in the life of everybody involved.  The important thing is to defeat any cowardice or weakness in your own mind.  It is always you mind, and not the mind of the other person, that is being put to the test."

Thanks Amy,

Dont let peoples doubt budge you. We all have doubt, we have the
Gohonzon and that is why we practice. Ask Peter or Rick Mateo,
with help on this.  They are 2 people that are good at explaining.
Love ya

it takes a little more than being interested in Buddhism to understand even a mustard seed worth. It's like a christian saying, I can pray to this telephone pole instead of Christ or the trinity or the Virgin Mary. He obviously hasn't studied very deeply. All vehicles of Buddhist practice require a deep faith and sincere practice. I wouldn't devote my life to a hot dog, well maybe a Hebrew National with slaw and ketsup.
