VARIETY SHOW DVD

A number of chorus families report having received their Variety Show DVDs on Friday and Saturday. If you ordered one, I’d keep an eye out this week. If you have any concerns about your order, or if you would still like to order one, please contact Diacom Productions at 1-877-2DIACOM or by visiting them online at www.diacomproductions.com.

CONCERT CHOIR AUDITIONS

Boone High School has one auditioned choir—concert choir. Students who are interested in joining this group must audition after school on Tuesday, May 31, from 2:30 – 4:30pm. This date has been posted in the chorus room for a week. There will be no callbacks on June 2 like I originally told the students. Girls must have one year of chorus experience at Boone to audition, while boys are not required to have any experience.

Audition

The audition seeks to identify students with excellent musicianship and vocal technique. Other selection criteria include the student’s level of maturity, responsibility, an excellent attendance record, and those who work hard in class. I also consider a student’s age, experience, grade, the needs of the choir, and the needs of the chorus program.

What helps students get into concert choir?

Students who actively expand their musical skills and knowledge through participation in certain activities are especially desirable. Although not required, those activities include voice lessons, All State, All County, Solo & Ensemble, summer choir camps, and taking other music classes such as keyboard, music theory, band, and orchestra.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
